making a huge cushion

a few weeks ago a friend of a friend emailed me and asked if I could cover a window seat cushion for her.

We agreed on a price and I procrastinated for a while, then finally DID it.

phew… it was nerve wrecking, and this thing was HUGE 91” long.

The fabric was a brown canvas type of fabric and I measured everything AND traced, then marked 1/2” around and cut..

She also wanted piping on both sides so she could flip the cushion- I had to look that up on youtube, though I’ve made flanges on quilts and covered cotton cording, so I had an idea of how it was done, but I found some short cuts, so that was good.

She was super happy with the cushion and sent me this picture of her window.

It was a good learning experience, but I’m NOT an upholsterer, so I don’t know if I would do this again, we’ll see.
