long arm quilting donation quilt

Last month at my quilt guild I grabbed a quilt top “kit” with batting and backing, just needing to be quilted and I was drawn to the fish fabric as I used this for my EPP quilt and then I figured I could practice some FMQ and ruler work

I had all good intensions to try something NEW but once I got the quilt on the frame, I knew what to do and used a lot of the same ol’ designs I often do. On the cat, I did SITD and outlined the cat and it looked like a shelf on the left, not sure what the brown thing is in the middle, maybe a ball of yarn? anyway I treated it like a shelf and just did a straight line vertically next to it.

Then I did a loopy design, bubbles and straight lines

and a large wave on the outer border and the smaller border

It was part of an orphan block and someone grabbed the block and kept adding borders to it, love how it turned out!

It’s about 42” x 42”

The quilting looks perfect for it Bea and how neat that someone made this from a orphan block!
