Long arm Quilting a gnome panel quilt

A customer/friend/ FB friend sent me another quilt for me to long arm for her and for some reason it took an extra week with USPS to get here! So I rushed it and finished it the next day and sent it back to her.

It was a cute Gnome panel quilt with blocks around it and I hadn’t custom quilted a quilt in a long time, the last time I did, I had trouble with the loose belts getting snagged, so this time I loosened the side belt just a tad and it was SO much better!

For the blocks I did curves from corner to corner, then bubbles on the black sashing, bigger bubbles on the outer black border with double bubbles tossed in there- actually they are snowballs! right?

On the outer border I outlined the striped printed border with the gnomes and I did a lot on straight lines and stitched in the ditch with a ruler!- got to try out my new ruler base!!

For the center panel I had the most fun, outlining the gnomes, adding snow to the bottom and then their beards!! The thread color is a pale tan btw!

The back was a white flannel with snowflakes on it.

Hopefully she got it already and likes it (she loved the pictures I sent already) Thanks Kathy for letting me quilt another of your quilts!

  1. USPS is doing a lousy job lately. I sent 3 packages Nov 30. Two packages arrived several days late, and the 3rd package is missing. It had face masks for my son, DIL and granddaughter. They need them so that they can fly here for Christmas. I haven’t had a package arrive on time thru USPS in months. They used to be so dependable.

Love the quilting in this…snowballs is such a fun idea (or gnome noses – less fun)!

  3. I love how you quilted the beard and the snowballs just perfect! Nice work Bea;)
