I had planned on bright batiks too and had a pile of FQs put aside, but then I started looking at the pile and I got the idea of purple and pinks!

Look at this lovely mess!! 🙂

After I had made the wedges and sewn them together I laid them out a different way to see what it would look like as a triangle

The corner circle wedge is appliquéd on and I ended up ironing the edges OVER the paper template after I had cut away the seam allowance.

And VOILA! the block is done!

And here’s the finished block

I just used my walking foot and did sort of a SITD all the way around and then echo quilting on the background.

  5. Marjorie's Busy Corner

not sure, but ai think, the pineapple one on the last page would be my first attempt.

  6. I think I'd choose #11…a snail trail. Your little quilt is darling…great job!

  7. That's a tough question! I think I would probably like to make #14 first though.

  8. I like the one that looks kind of like a granny square, so I think I would make that first. They are all lovely!

  9. Connie Kresin Campbell

Wow is that beautiful Bea! The pink and purple looks so neat together!

  10. I love them all, but probably begin with #8. Your rendition of the starburst is beautiful

  11. Christine Regan

I actually love the star quilt that you did and would likely do this first,

  12. I love a lot of them, but 3,10,16 would be my first choices-at least for today!! Yours is really cute too of course!

  13. Sew many cool minis to choose from. #8 would be my first choice although many others would quickly follow!

  14. Angel and Kirby

When I first looked at the book, I picked Star Burst, too. There are so many that I want to make them all!

  15. I think I'd make #10 first. They are all great & would probably end up making all them! I'm addicted to mini's!

  16. my favorite is the one that isn't in the book. I think you get it online. But, they are all beautiful. Thanks so much, yours really looked great, but so hard to do.

  17. These Little Gems are all so cute! I think I like #13 – if I counted right – with the little pinwheels right now. Thanks so much for another chance to win! :)Debby Esamtaylorcjsmimi at yahoo dot com

  18. Brandy Pettit

Spinner is the most appealing to me, but they are all pretty nice.~Brandy

  19. I am drawn to #16. I can see myself making most of the sooner or later. All are loveley

  20. I just cannot make up my mind!!! Too many cuties in there; but 3 or 8 would be my first choices. Pick me to win so I will have to decide LOL.

  21. Oh, my too many lovely choices. But I'd choose starburst (image 15)to do first. Just so effective.

  22. I love them all but I really want to make Playing with Plaids as a small memory quilt with my husbands shirts.

  23. Pam Geisel - For Quilts Sake

#2, #12, or #13. Kudos on the one you picked…it looks challenging!

  24. Deb G. in VA

I love your little quilt! All the designs are so pretty, it's hard to chose one, but I think I would start with #8.

  25. I really like your starburst, especially the colors you selected, but I have to go with the Red and White one. I love the tiny flying geese, it's directional quality and the sweet red buttons. Pick me! Pick me!

  26. I'd make the one in photo #8, with the pineapple block in the middle. And the pattern you made is one I would try as well. Yours is gorgeous!

  27. Great colors! I have the book, but want to make another one! The one with flying geese appeals.

  28. Starburst is a gorgeous little quilt and both color ways are wonderful. I'm rather partial to pink and purples – yours is great. Island Batiks are outstanding!

  29. Rhonda Davis

I would have to put each quilt name on a piece of paper then draw one out of the hat to start with.

  30. Hello! If I had the book I think I´ve done number 10 at first. I like it. Nice colour blue and white. /Titti

  31. I would make the flying geese one as I have a thing about flying geese at the moment. Thanks for the chance to win

  32. What a lovely book `Little Gems` is.I can see these little quilts in different colour ways but my first one to start would be the triangle mini on page 12,then square in a square page 6. I like the plaid HST on page 2 as well. Happy Stitching.

  33. Bea ~ I really LOVE the little quilt you made and the choice of colors you've used. Beautiful work! That would be my 3rd choice. My first choice would be #14 with the Little Windmills and RicRac. So cute.My second choice is #5 with the Yo-yo's.

  34. Sherrill McKinnon

After looking at the pictures I really like the one with the flying geese (not sure of it's name)because of its unusual binding but I really think I like Serenity best.

  35. I really like the block you created, it is very pretty. I would make the one on page 5 first and then the pattern you made on page 16. Thank you for a chance to win.

  36. I like #12 the best. But there are at least 3 others that come in a very close second!

  37. You did a great job! I would have picked number 13 or number 5. Thanks for the chance!!

  38. Karen in Breezy Point

There are so many cute ones, but I would probably make the plaid one with buttons or the blue and white one first–hard to choose!

  39. I would love to do number 8. In my house it would look great! Nimble fingers flying fast, making making beauty sure to last. Thanks!

  40. I actually looked at all the options and liked the one you picked also. Maybe it was the bright colors, but I also love the sun aspect of it.

  41. Hi Bea, I have been wanting to purchase this book. I love the little quilts. I like 2 and 8 the best.

  42. Susan Arnold

Thanks for the link to preview the book. When I saw the first one with all the plaids, I thought what a perfect way to use up my stash of them. Of course, there were many others in the book that looked attractive too! Hard choice!

  43. i love the blue and white one as well as the snails tail one, although they are all gorgeous!!. thanks for sharing

  44. I don't know what it's called, but I'd make number 11, the snail trail one.jen dot barnard at btinternet dot com

  45. I just love the little gem on p. 12 with the taupes and browns. I am usually such a bright color lover, but this really is beautiful to me! This would be my first project from the book.

  46. I'd make the flying geese block first. Then I'd have to make five other ones. They're all nice minis.
