I’m SEW excited to be part of this blog hop
When I heard that a fellow Island batik ambassador had authored a book with Martingale and wanted us/me to test a pattern and be part of the blog hop, I jumped right on it.
I got a an e-book from Martingale and drooled over WHICH project I wanted to make, they were all so pretty!
I picked Star burst!

I had planned on bright batiks too and had a pile of FQs put aside, but then I started looking at the pile and I got the idea of purple and pinks!
Look at this lovely mess!! 🙂
After I had made the wedges and sewn them together I laid them out a different way to see what it would look like as a triangle
The corner circle wedge is appliquéd on and I ended up ironing the edges OVER the paper template after I had cut away the seam allowance.
And VOILA! the block is done!
And here’s the finished block
I just used my walking foot and did sort of a SITD all the way around and then echo quilting on the background.
Here’s the rest of the participants for the blog hop!

Martingale is offering ONE to give away for each of the participants…..
I just have one question for you.
By looking thru the book here, if you had this book, which project would be the first one you’d make?
Comment below and make sure you are NOT a no-reply blogger, if you’re not sure, leave your email address on there.
I’ll pick a winner on the 20th.
Good luck.
Beautiful little quilt, wow! I am drawn to number three and 8. Thanks so much!
I like a lot of these. I'm drawn to the one you just did at the moment.
I would make the star burst first. Love your purple and pink version. Thanks for sharing.
My first quilt for sure would be #6 in batiks! — soparkaveataoldotcom
I love the primitive look of number 2 and the ability to use my scraps with it
Wow! I love the colours of your mini quilt!! My favourite mini quilt in the book is #6… Love those colours especially!!
Black & White Delight (front page) is the one I prefer.
not sure, but ai think, the pineapple one on the last page would be my first attempt.
I think I'd choose #11…a snail trail. Your little quilt is darling…great job!
I love numbers 8 and 12. But really they're all beautiful!
That's a tough question! I think I would probably like to make #14 first though.
I like the one that looks kind of like a granny square, so I think I would make that first. They are all lovely!
Wow is that beautiful Bea! The pink and purple looks so neat together!
I love them all, but probably begin with #8. Your rendition of the starburst is beautiful
I actually love the star quilt that you did and would likely do this first,
I love a lot of them, but 3,10,16 would be my first choices-at least for today!! Yours is really cute too of course!
Sew many cool minis to choose from. #8 would be my first choice although many others would quickly follow!
When I first looked at the book, I picked Star Burst, too. There are so many that I want to make them all!
I think I'd make #10 first. They are all great & would probably end up making all them! I'm addicted to mini's!
Love your version.I would pick Star Burst to do first. Honest. 🙂
my favorite is the one that isn't in the book. I think you get it online. But, they are all beautiful. Thanks so much, yours really looked great, but so hard to do.
These Little Gems are all so cute! I think I like #13 – if I counted right – with the little pinwheels right now. Thanks so much for another chance to win! :)Debby Esamtaylorcjsmimi at yahoo dot com
Spinner is the most appealing to me, but they are all pretty nice.~Brandy
I am drawn to #16. I can see myself making most of the sooner or later. All are loveley
I just cannot make up my mind!!! Too many cuties in there; but 3 or 8 would be my first choices. Pick me to win so I will have to decide LOL.
Ohhhh, that one is too cool! LOVE it!
Oh, my too many lovely choices. But I'd choose starburst (image 15)to do first. Just so effective.
Wonderful……
#8 I think
I can't decide between #8, #10, and #16!!! So I pick all three!
I love them all but I really want to make Playing with Plaids as a small memory quilt with my husbands shirts.
Oh, I love them all but I think I would do the snail trail first.
#2, #12, or #13. Kudos on the one you picked…it looks challenging!
I love your little quilt! All the designs are so pretty, it's hard to chose one, but I think I would start with #8.
I really like your starburst, especially the colors you selected, but I have to go with the Red and White one. I love the tiny flying geese, it's directional quality and the sweet red buttons. Pick me! Pick me!
I love the third one! so cute!
I would probably start with 9, 10 or 16.
I would start with #11 Snail Trail in a scrappy color scheme.
I'd make the one in photo #8, with the pineapple block in the middle. And the pattern you made is one I would try as well. Yours is gorgeous!
Great colors! I have the book, but want to make another one! The one with flying geese appeals.
I love the Black/White/Red Mini.
Starburst is a gorgeous little quilt and both color ways are wonderful. I'm rather partial to pink and purples – yours is great. Island Batiks are outstanding!
I would start with pages 3 and 16. Your purple rendition is lovely.
I like 5 and 10 best !!
I would have to put each quilt name on a piece of paper then draw one out of the hat to start with.
Hello! If I had the book I think I´ve done number 10 at first. I like it. Nice colour blue and white. /Titti
I would make the flying geese one as I have a thing about flying geese at the moment. Thanks for the chance to win
I would start with the purple jobbie. 13/16. Lov'in this book. Carolyn http://www.mtntop2@netptc.net
What a lovely book `Little Gems` is.I can see these little quilts in different colour ways but my first one to start would be the triangle mini on page 12,then square in a square page 6. I like the plaid HST on page 2 as well. Happy Stitching.
Bea ~ I really LOVE the little quilt you made and the choice of colors you've used. Beautiful work! That would be my 3rd choice. My first choice would be #14 with the Little Windmills and RicRac. So cute.My second choice is #5 with the Yo-yo's.
I can't decide between #3, #10 or #15! They are all so cute!
After looking at the pictures I really like the one with the flying geese (not sure of it's name)because of its unusual binding but I really think I like Serenity best.
#6
The one with the big buttons.
I would make #11, the Snail's Trail pattern. I have always loved the way the pattern interlocks.maureeneh52@hotmail.com
I really like the block you created, it is very pretty. I would make the one on page 5 first and then the pattern you made on page 16. Thank you for a chance to win.
I like #12 the best. But there are at least 3 others that come in a very close second!
You did a great job! I would have picked number 13 or number 5. Thanks for the chance!!
There are so many cute ones, but I would probably make the plaid one with buttons or the blue and white one first–hard to choose!
I would love to do number 8. In my house it would look great! Nimble fingers flying fast, making making beauty sure to last. Thanks!
I would make the star quilt first!mmyheartishere@gmail.com
I would make star burst first. Your color choices are gorgeous!
I actually looked at all the options and liked the one you picked also. Maybe it was the bright colors, but I also love the sun aspect of it.
Hi Bea, I have been wanting to purchase this book. I love the little quilts. I like 2 and 8 the best.
I like the mini snail trail best!
Thanks for the link to preview the book. When I saw the first one with all the plaids, I thought what a perfect way to use up my stash of them. Of course, there were many others in the book that looked attractive too! Hard choice!
i love the blue and white one as well as the snails tail one, although they are all gorgeous!!. thanks for sharing

I like the flying geese. Definitely need a beginning level.
I don't know what it's called, but I'd make number 11, the snail trail one.jen dot barnard at btinternet dot com
I just love the little gem on p. 12 with the taupes and browns. I am usually such a bright color lover, but this really is beautiful to me! This would be my first project from the book.

I'd make the flying geese block first. Then I'd have to make five other ones. They're all nice minis.
I love Cotton Candy, and would make this first
