Yesterday I was looking at my bins of ongoing projects and I realized I had a bin full of scraps from the wonky house block swap and these were scraps that were sent back to me from the participants.
So I decided to cut them all up and use for a scrappy backing, then I decided to do it sort of stripey.
here’s the result (ignore that the right side is all uneven, don’t know what happened there but it’ll be okay once I quilt it)
I was lucky enough that I had a big pile of solid red on the shelf so I cut that up length wise to the width +4″ of the top, and that was my guide for the scrappy stripes, the solid red is slightly different than the red in the wonky house blocks, but I don’t care- it’s a backing and it IS wonky!!
This morning I was looking at my bins again and remembered I had the blocks from pinetree’s march BOM which I won, so I pulled up my EQ file of these and played with it some more
I had originally intended on a scrappy border too, but when I looked at the dotted fabrics I had put aside for this, I had enough of a yellow dot for a skinny 2″ border and a 4″ red dotted border, plus I cut out an orange dotted for the binding.
It’s a nice size quilt, I think about a 66″ square.
after I put it all together I realized that the flower in the middle on the top row, the green stripe in the middle of the block is a different green than all the rest, I think this was the guild sample, because we were all given the green and center purple square for the blocks, the rest of the flowers were up to us.
I do like the 4 colored block in the middle. It turned out to be a cute quilt! 🙂
and I started using the blue star quilt as leaders and enders.
