a friend from church asked me a while ago to make a quilt for her great grandson and to use a certain jungle fabric she found on ETSY, so I purchased that and we met and discussed design and other fabrics.
This is the design from EQ, it was hard to show the fabric as I downloaded the image from ETSY but the repeat was not great, but you get the idea at least.
I got the fabrics READY!
I made the first block and sent it to Pat
and then made the rest of the blocks
She also wanted her great grandson’s name on there (as I’ve made another quilt for her great granddaughter some years ago and I added her name to it too)
A tip about applique is to pivot when the needle is DOWN and also do have an open foot so you can see what you’re doing.
I was finishing up the LAST letter and the bobbin ran out maybe 3 stitched from being finished! SIGH!!
Then I thought about how to center the name on the top border, it looked best by centering the outside of the names so the distance from the edges to the letters would be the same, but then the space between the names isn’t centered, but it looks RIGHT, I guess it’s like centering a sentence is MS word!
Then I quilted it and added the binding!
I purchased a jungle leaf design by Urban Elementz as I thought that was fitting and I quilted it in light green thread.
The backing is also all jungle fabric, but I did a mistake and just sewed down the selvedge of the folded fabric and totally forgot that it was right side up, so the side is right side down, but it’s the back and it’s still the jungle fabric, so not that big of a deal. Nothing I can do about it anyways.
Pat LOVED it and I’ll deliver it to her next week!
BTW you can get the pattern here
Love your careful and beautiful blanket stitching. Perfect.
