I can’t believe we’re done with the blocks (except for the border blocks), I started my quilt in November 2020 and quilted it early 2021, now it’s time to assemble!
You can follow along with my method of come up with your own way as it’s not really assembled in rows or columns so there’s some partial seams, I recommend following the pattern (which might be a bit different than what I did) so it’s really up to you!
I like to sort my blocks by size like this.
Since I was assembling before I wrote the pattern I marked everything on my print out.
I prefer to sew as many “chunks” together in one sitting as possible so this is what I did- it’s hard to show because the quilt is so big and my wall is shorter, so just look at the pictures π
after a while I got to partial seams so I just sewed half way up the smallest block, it was really so I could line up the bottom of the section to something else.
here’s another partial seam
see how I added the churn dash block below it! There’s several partial seams now
and here are sections with partial seams
then it’s easier to sew them together
Center of quilt should now measure 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″, 48 x 64 1/2″, 72 1/2β x 96 1/2″
During the top assembly I also worked on the border blocks and the corner blocks, make 28 blue and pink (shape #13 for the pink and #14 for the blue) and then 32 with black for #13 and grey for #14.
also add corner blocks with #3 triangles in white and black
don’t forget the inner white border per directions in the pattern and when adding the outer border, there will be several places where the seams line up when you are pinning even though you are pinning to the inner border, see the middle seam between the blocks lines up with a seam on the quilt center.
Here’s my top all done!
Finished sizes should be 45β x 57β, 60β x 76β, 90β x 114β, mine was the middle size.
Since I made the front all scrappy, I figured I’d make the backing scrappy too so I picked any yardage chunks I had in blues and pinks, it isn’t that pretty but then it didn’t cost anything π
I’m so happy this is done! If you want to make it you can buy the pattern here
I’d love to see pictures!!
