It’s cool to be square blog hop

When Carol at Just Let me quilt announced this blog hop, I jumped right on it!

I knew I wanted to make something from one of my own patterns and something with “Squares” obviously and then I figured “small” as I was in the middle of mask making, so just in case I wouldn’t have time to finish, a small commitment would be easier to finish in time, also I’m REALLY REALLY low on yardage for making backings from.

I decided on my “Boxed in” pattern and found 3 FQs to use and set to work

I must not have paid attention but I didn’t flip the colors in the small section of the block, I decided to NOT rip them out but just continue.

I added a white inner border and corner border squares

The runner measures 15″ x 29″

I quilted it using a design called “diamonds”

I used two FQs for the backing too

for some reason the whole thing is not laying flat, maybe I can press it into submission. LOL.

  1. The colors made this look so different than the full size boxed in. I wouldn’t have even guessed they were the same pattern.

  2. Wonderful version of this Boxed In pattern. Your fabric choices give it a new look. Thank you for sharing … 🙂 Pat

  3. Oh how fun! I hate it when things aren’t flat. Maybe some steam will beat it into submission! hahaha

  4. The black and beige are so pretty in this runner and I love all the square combos in it. Great job being cool and square! Thanks for hopping with us!

  5. Hello Bea! I love your boxed in pattern and brown quilt so much! I am also a huge fan of black and white quilts! I love seeing the pattern made into two very different projects.

  6. Frustrating to do all that work and not have it lie flat – I wonder, too, what went wrong. Good luck with the pressing. 🙂 Squaresville..you’d fit right in; it’s a great quilt pattern.

  7. Hi Bea. What an elegant B&W runner. I think we all are sharing the same mindset because the name of your project is similar to mine for the Hop. Must be the effect of Covid Brain and mask making! 😷 Carol

The black and white squares tablerunner is terrific. I love that you had a pattern called squares to use…hooray for you!

  9. This is a great modern table runner. Love the design. The black and white fabric really makes the design stand out. Great job!

  10. I like the table runner, but really love the quilt. That pattern is so fun and looks really stunning. I can see myself making that quilt. Just lovely Bea.

  11. Black and white always looks wonderful. I’m not a sane quilter per se, but I wonder if you could damp stretch to help with the laying flat? Just pin it out and then evenly moisten it and let it dry before removing the pins. That’s what we do with embroidered pieces that get out of sync with the stitching process.
