It’s time to add the borders and finish the Pasture QAL quilt!
\
Before sewing the borders, (or while making the borders) plan out where the 12 blocks should go in the layout, you can follow the layout in the pattern or shuffle them around whichever way you want.
Sew the top together into a 3 x 4 layout like this
If you didn’t already cut out the #2 squares from each fabric, do so now and then cut out the background fabrics too, #2 and #8 rectangles. Them together into sets like these.
Then start sewing these together with the #8 rectangles inbetween and try to shuffle the fabrics around so each color is spread out on the border strips.
2 borders have sets of 7 – two patches and 6 rectangles, and 2 borders have 9- two patches and 8 rectangles
Add the skinny border which is 1/8 of the width of the QUBE set plus seam allowance, so in this case it’s 2″ cut. Cut and sew the border strips and add to the quilt.
Add the longer border strips to the sides of the quilt, then add large #1 background squares to the ends of the shorter border strips and add these to the top and bottom of the quilt.
The finish the quilt! Here’s mine 🙂
While waiting for these posts to go LIVE, I used 10″ squares and the 5″ QUBE set to cut out pieces for a mini version of this, they almost all fit, except I had to shuffle a few pieces around.
I love tiny pieces!
Here’s the mini quilt all finished too, it finished 21″ x 26″
To celebrate these finishes, I have the Pasture pattern on sale this week for $12 instead of $15!
Love the borders, love it in blue even better!
