Did you see it?? (I know I already got some emails and messages on FB about this) I’m in Fons and Porter’s Love of Quilting Sept/Oct 2018!
(and I did notice that there’s an episode too, but I’m not in it, but I guess the quilt is??)
Now it’s fun that someone made an orange and red version of the quilt too! that’s really nice!!
Now, the magazine doesn’t mention it, but I used my GO 8” QUBE set for this and made green crumb blocks and then cut them out with the QUBE set (shapes #1 and #3) and strip cutter and small squares of the sashing and borders too! (and I didn’t need to use muslin on the back)
Crumb blocks are SEW much fun and great scrap busters!!
I have a copy of the magazine (signed) to give away to someone (US please!)
Please enter below and answer if you ever made crumb blocks?
Now one of my fellow Island Batik ambassadors is also in this magazine
Jennifer at Curlicue Creations
-she’ll also have a magazine to give away
-and sorry non of us showed batiks this time! (She just became an ambassador this year and when we send quilts to a magazine it often takes a year to get it back, so….)
Anyways, it makes me want to do more crumb blocks now!! ha ha
I am so excited for you. What a fun quilt!
So glad you are published again. I wish they would mention the dies used. Big congratulations 👌
Congrats! I've made string blocks, but not crumb blocks. It's on my 'to do' list (really long list now).
Congratulations Bea. This could easily have been made with the bright green Petting Zoo from Island Batik. Crumb blocks are just darling.
Congratualations! Your quilt is so pretty. I have never made a crumb quilt but I may need to as I need to start using up some of my scraps.
Great idea using crumbs for the leaves! Congrats on another publish!
I have never made a block like that but would like to try. It's beautiful.
I've experimented a little bit with crumb blocks, but have only used them in small things like pot holders. Your quilt is beautiful and now I want to make something with that technique.
Crumb blocks sound like a great way to use small pieces. I haven’t tried any yet. Congratulations on being in the magazine.
Congratulations! I don't know what a crumb block is, so probably not.
Congratulations! I hVe never made a crumb block.
What is a crumb block? Small pieces sewn together then cut into a piece? Looks cool and complicated. Not sure I understand the Muslim comment in the post. Still, very nice!
I've never done a crumb quilt but I should! I have tons of scraps!
Congratulations on being published! I love that two ambassadors are in the same magazine. Crumbs are an effective way to use up scraps, aren't they.
Congratulations on getting this beautiful pattern in the magazine! It is a really clever pattern and the perfect way to use these scrappy blocks! I have been creating crumbs blocks and using them as 4 patch elements for my textured blocks in my 2018 QAL, and in this way I finished up all my dark blue scraps! My plan is to do the same for all the crumbs I have, so I may use your layout as a way to put them together in a fun way. It's a long term project, but thanks for the fun idea!!
I have never tried the crumb blocks.
I made a crumb quilt for Halloween with all my orange scraps and fused jack-o-lantern outlines on it for a table runner. I like using scraps!!
Love, love your green quilt. 💚💚💚 Yes, I've made crumb blocks. Great fun.
