Hearts of fire blog hop

It’s time for a fun blog hop hosted by Carol at Just let me quilt

At first I thought I remember reading to NOT include anything RED but now I can’t find it and you know?? I was going to break the rule anyways….. because I had slowly started working on a heart quilt last year and when I saw this blog hop, I thought this quilt would be perfect for it! I had a layer cake with valentine’s prints and 10″ squares are perfect for the wonky heart die from Accuquilt

main product photo

This layer cake had 42 squares so that was perfect for a 6×7 block layout

I had the blocks made for a while and then waited on white fabric for sashing and borders.

Finally I got that added on 🙂

It wasn’t until recently that I made the backing and quilted it and finished the quilt.

The quilt measures 49″ x 56″

I quilted it in a design by urban elementz called “ginger hearts” using pink thread.

I pieced the back out of two red fabrics

I like your quilt, and the hearts aren’t all red, so I think you covered the rules. I really like the quilting pattern and the use of the red on the back to show off the quilting. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Not all the hearts are red so you technically followed the rules. It’s a beauty and your quilting looks amazing on it. I love it! You really know how to use those Accuquilt dies to make some gorgeous quilts. Thanks for sharing and hopping with us! xo

  3. What a pretty finish. Like those wonky heart blocks and the quilting design goes so well with.

  4. Oh well…it’s a very cute quilt even if some of the hearts are red. Love the quilting design you chose.

  5. You rule-breaker, you! Haha! Looks great, I like the different prints, and I saw another red quilt yesterday so you aren’t the only rebel 🙂
