One of Accuquilt’s newer dies is the signature circle die, it finishes at 6″ and it’s a bit tricky or rather a challenge, because it’s curves!! but then as always, it includes little notches to help you line up everything, so it’s really not hard 🙂
I got to play with this new BOB die and made a small little quilt.
I played in EQ a bit before starting anything, first I came up with this in Christmas colors
Â
Then I shifted to coffee fabrics, because that’s what I had in stock 🙂
A quilt that would finish 22 1/2″ x 22 1/2″
So I got out my fabrics and dies, the signature circle die and the #2 die from the 6″ QUBE set (1 1/2″ Fin.) and my fabrics
about 1/4yd of the coffee cups, 3/4yd of the beans, and 1/4yd of the tan
Then I cut out the pieces
From the coffee cups I cut 4 of the main part B of the signature circle die, then 25 of the #2 squares
From the tan fabric I cut out 8 of the A pie shapes of the signature circle die, then 24 of the #2 squares
From the bean fabric I cut out 8 of shape C,
then the border and sashing pieces (2) 2″ x 6 1/2″ , (2) 2″ x 14″, (2) 2″ x 17″, (2) 2″ x 20″ and (2) 2″ x 23″
Then I started sewing, lining up the notches and sewing slowly
and quickly I had 4 blocks done
I also sewed the borders with the #2 squares, each with 5 of the coffee cups and 6 of the tan squares.
I added the sashing and center square and the inner borders (I chose the “best” coffee cup square for the center)
Then I added the block borders with coffee cup squares in the corners and the outer border
And it took a while before I got around to quilting it but I finally did, I chose to quilt a large design instead of a tiny design, I had enough fabric of the bean fabric to make the binding too!
I had some of the cup and bean fabric left for the backing so I made it a stripe 🙂 which makes me think I must have cut 1yd of those 2 fabrics and just used the leftovers, I can’t remember now
If you’re up for a challenge, try out the die from Accuquilt!
Look what it would look like bigger!
