Have you ever tried a Dear Jane Quilt

Have you heard of a Dear Jane Quilt?

You can read about it here

It’s a very interesting read.

It’s a very lovely sampler quilt and looks at those borders!! WOW!

The Jane A. Stickle quilt is now available for EQ software! Inspired by Brenda Manges Papadakis’ book Dear Jane: The Two Hundred Twenty-Five Patterns from the 1863 Jane A. Stickle Quilt, this add-on for EQ8 software gives you all 225 blocks and the full quilt layout designed by Jane A. Stickle during the American Civil War. In EQ8 you can print templates, foundation patterns, and rotary cutting charts for the blocks at any size you need. Play around with the quilt layout, add your own fabrics, and make your own Dear Jane quilt!

Now, I’m lucky that Electric Quilt gave me this software in exchange for some publicity 😉

Yay! Lucky me!!

When you purchase the add on software (You have to have EQ8 btw!)

Electric quilt also offered a special “Beaquilter” coupon for 20% off your order (that included EQ8!) Code expires Nov 15th

EQBEAQUILTER

You then go to your account and download it, then install it following the prompts- super easy!

You also get a PDF that shows you how to use the add-on

Then when you open EQ and open existing project, there’s several DJ files!

The first Dear Jane MASTER shows the quilt, then one color change file for the border and a blank layout file

The Dear Jane Progress chart shows all the placements for the blocks in the library, how cool and organized is that!!

In the Variation file there’s a few different ideas, especially how you can use those triangle border blocks as part of the center of the quilt!

And the last two files shows in DETAIL how each block was quilted!! Here’s just one of them

I got this little fact from the EQ website

The quilt is made from 169 blocks, 52 triangles, 4 corner kites, and 5602 pieces

WOW! that’s a lot of pieces!!

The quilt is 84″ x 84″ and the blocks are 4.5″ finished with 0.5″ sashing. So it’s teeny tiny! I do LOVE that!! call me crazy 😉

I can just sit for hours and scroll thru the sketchbook and all those blocks! Maybe I’ll come up with some small simple version of this?

Stay tuned for another EQ post about Dear Jane.

Again get your copy of it here

EQ8 IS required to run this

Use coupon code EQBEAQUILTER to get 20% off your order (so you can add more things too!)

Coupon expires Nov 15th 2020

And thanks to Electric quilt for giving me a copy of this to review!!

I am amazed at it’s organization but after purchasing it realized it was not organized like other EQ add-ons. Something threw me off it. Or it hung up…I’ll go back and try it again. But the blocks are so small. I think a starter project like a pillow or wall hanging might be good to try. Add Accuquilt and yes. I’m in.
