It’s new years eve!!
tomorrow it’ll be 2025!! and from a personal perspective, this year has been rough to say it mildly!
With first my husband getting laid off in April, from his job at IBM for 23 years!
Then his parent’s getting worse health wise and us taking care of them until their passing in September and October!
We’ll be ok financially, but it’s still so “different”
For my quilting, sales have gone way down this year, I have gotten “shunned” by a new local quilt store, which is a shame, I can’t go into details. I wish the store great success, but another local quilting teacher friend almost got the same treatment, so….
I did get my long arm machine fixed so that’s working great now! – no need for another machine!!
At the end of this year we decided to look into other churches, local ones, because we’ve driven 45 min each way for over 15 years to our old church, we finally found one and LOVE it…. plus there’s a cute 19yo BOY who Solveig has been talking with a LOT! hehehe
Looking ahead, God is GOOD and we really like our new church, this country looks to be turning a corner for the better, so we’re looking ahead to hopefully a GREAT 2025!
It looks like I finished at least 80 quilts this year, I usually hit closer to 100 but it’s still a lot!
My favorite is probably this scrappy version of my Genesis 9:16 pattern
and speaking of scrappy quilts, my last one made the top of the list for my LEAST favorite/ ugly quilt of the year.
This quilt is also a scrappy version of my pattern “Rising Star”
I’ll do a post next year about how NOT to do a scrappy quilt vs HOW to do a nice scrappy quilt!
Also I don’t like browns and that pink and grey is just sticking out so much, I don’t mind the red with it, but the whole thing just doesn’t look good. Oh well…. can’t win them all. Plus it’s scrappy, so not a huge $$ loss.
Happy New year to ya’ll !! 🙂
I hope 2025 is a good year for you and your family. You certainly went through a lot in 2024. Your scrappy Genesis quilt is my favorite quilt that you have made.
