It’s my first 4th of July as an American citizen!
Now I can say this and mean it.
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
I’ve been here for over 20yrs and have also been at events where “we” would say the pledge of allegiance. I never did…. I stood up, out of respect and to not “stick out”, but I never crossed my heart and said the words, because I didn’t. I said my first pledge of allegiance at the immigration office in the fall.
So now it’s my “first” independence day!
I love the red white and blue colors and have made several patriotic quilts over the years!
Here’s some bargellos
a patriotic star quilt that I designed for a magazine and now have as a patterns too
and this medallion quilt
and my latest flag quilt for Quiltmaker!
Happy 4th of July to you!
Enjoy your INDEPENDENCE day!
Don’t take it for granted
Congratulations on your citizenship! I didn’t know you last year, so I feel that I can congratulate you now. In spite of some of the current climate, it is a wonderful country. I went to a naturalization ceremony for a friend, it was so moving. Enjoy the 4th!
