I recently got these fabrics from Michael Miller
(a TAD late, but better late than never… or maybe they are just 11months too early? not really but that’s ok)
I had originally planned on making a pillow with the Accuquilt gnome die if I had gotten these before December, but now that they were “late” I figured I’d slow down and make something else! the gnome fabric is just adorable so I started thinking about English Paper Piecing (EPP) and I played in EQ and came up with this- I used a triangle layout so I could fill in any shape I wanted to make triangles, diamonds, hexagons and half hexagons.
I printed them out without the black lines and I already have a bunch of cardstock cut with the EPP QUBE set from Accuquilt, and the fabrics would be fussy cut so I actually didn’t “need” the set for this, but just to show.
I cut out enough for 3 of each block, and I like to glue baste my EPP so here’s the 6 sets, notice how half the hexagons are straight the other half is on point because that’s how I designed the blocks.
I’ll work on these while driving to and from church or other road trips where I’m a passenger, but I did manage to do this on one trip 🙂
I don’t have a “plan” yet for what I’ll make but I’m pretty sure I’ll need to make a 7th one if they should all connect, I’ll see when I get that far.
What fun! Love the way you planned it in EQ8 and the dies sound terrific.
Super cute gnomes. Great job fussy cutting and stitching.
Those gnomes are adorable.
Those are Spring Garden Gnomes. They came just in time to finish something for Spring.
