I started this quilt quite a while ago and it’s all 100% scraps!!!
My scrap quilts usually start by noting which scrap bins are overflowing, then I play a little in EQ and come up with something.
Here I figured I hadn’t used the Glorified Nine patch die by accuquilt in ages, so why not try that and then I added alternate blocks, the Glorified Nine patch die makes a 9in block and there’s a 9in qube set so I added a simple block and loved how the curve of the Glorified block creates a full circle! So I had a plan!!
The whites are all white on white fabrics, with the light green I didn’t have many rules other than it had to fit on the die and cut the 4 pieces, either die #4 from the qube set or the tips of the glorified blocks, the same with the pink which was tricky because my pink bin has both dark and light pink, so it got a bit funky! and to tie it all together I used solid grey, it was either a small piece of yardage or a BIG scrap in the bin, I don’t remember now, but the quilt finished at 54″ x 63″ as you can see I also used the 9″ qube for the border with die #8 and #1 in the corners.
I quilted in a variegated pastel thread
For the backing I used any large chunks of yardage I had on hand, I think I started with any green and pink in my 0-1/2yd pile, I might have added a bit of green from my 1/2yd-1yd pile.
For the binding I had Anja sort all my scrap binding strips and find all the pink and green (and I found that I had enough pink so I didn’t use the green at all)
All the pink binding strips were solid and all pretty light!
My only cost in this quilt was the thread and the batting!! Not bad at all 🙂
This is amazing. I’ve been trying to experiment with mixing blocks. These two work so well together.
i never would have thought to mix a block with a BOB – this is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Anja will be a great quilter some day. What a good helper you have! As you know, I love scrappy quilts best, and this one’s a winner! :o)
This is an awesome quilt. I actually started using up some of my stash and scraps to make a couple different quilts. But yours is really impressive.
