Giraffe quilt is finally done

I finally have my giraffe quilt done!

That ONLY took about 7 years to complete!!

Well it’s because I did needle turn applique and I didn’t like it, then put it away and have slowly done progress.

It’s an adorable pattern by hissyfitz called my favorite earrings

It’s just adorable!

(Even though I flipped it by accident)

Now look at the difference between these two pictures

I recently got these camera gadgets, umbrellas and lights! I’m still thinking about what kind of backsplash thing to get

Here’s some closeups from the quilting

I did a dense meandering on the background, then bubbles on the inner border and feathers on the outer border

And I quilted a bit on the giraffes too in light brown thread

I used a Hobbs wool batting which is super lofty so it was very different to work with and ended with a beautiful result!

Now I did end up with some wavy binding, don’t know how that happened, but oh well!

I’m so happy to have this giraffe quilt done!!

(oh and blogger and OLW writer are not talking nice again, sigh!)

Beautiful work Bea! Love those precious giraffes. I have a quilt that is about the same age and needs to be finished!

  2. I have been waiting many years to see you work on this and to complete it. Your perseverance to finish this absolutely adorable quilt while hating the needle turn appliqué is truly indicative of your ability to fight your way through difficulties. In my opinion it is well worth the struggle. Who will be the owner of this quilt. I’m sure it will be someone very special, that includes you!
