Hi everyone it’s finally my turn to show a fun quilt for the Getaway blog hop! Now it doesn’t really have anything to do with traveling, as my fabric line is called feline fine!
It’s such a cute fabric line with paw prints, fish and mice things on it.
Here’s just a few of them MEOW!
Last year I showed an EQ tutorial on how to create a quilt from blocks
As I was looking at it, I wanted to use the sampler block book from Accuquilt by Eleanor burns
Then I got the idea to use the 6” qube set for the smaller blocks and the 12” qube for the bigger blocks, it would be a nicer sampler quilt.
So I printed out the layout and randomly put block #s in the spaces (after I marked the blocks in the book with numbers too), I made a “rule” of only using star blocks as the 12” blocks.
And then I started cutting into this cute bundle!
I labeled the pieces with a note and the block name so I could still sew several blocks together at a time. very technical!
and soon enough I had all the blocks done!
I laid out the blocks how I had planned and I might have moved some around at this point, as I was cutting the fabrics sort of randomly, but just what looked “good” for each block and not paying attention to neighboring blocks
Here it is all sewn together
And here it is all quilted! such a fun sampler quilt!
It measures 36” x 48”
Here’s a closeup of the quilting, I used a signature yellow thread and did curves from corner to corner on all the blocks.
Now I did a somewhat new technique, First I stitch the binding down 1/4” from the edge of the top.
Then I used this 1/4” steam a seam tape by Warm company, it’s super easy to iron down, then rip off the paper
and iron down the binding on top and the tape makes it stick, now I made sure that it went over the stitch line by more than just a little bit
Then this time on the front, I stitched in the ditch close to the binding and on the back it’s on perfectly!
It’s a fun technique I’ll try again soon!
I made an oops block so then I made it into a pincushion and sent it off to a recipient in my pincushion swap
It’s a biscornu style pincushion (rather big as it’s 6”) but still cute
Have a look at the Blog hop participants, it’s quite a long hop with wonderful IB ambassadors!

Island Batik is also having a giveaway on their blog here so hop on over and take a look and enter!
I also decided to have a little giveaway BECAUSE…..
I’ll be an Island Batik ambassador again for them in 2019!! and I did NOT know that Accuquilt would be partnering up with them, so it’s kind of funny that the other ambassadors got STUFF From them already including the book above, well I’ll keep the rest secret for now
My fabric and Accuquilt boxes are arriving this week too and it’s so hard not to share about the goodies!
There’s 50 ambassadors this year!! that’s a LOT!!
For my little giveaway, I made a little batik owl pincushion and I found 2 of these 5” strip rolls left in my IB box from last year, so I’ll give those away to one lucky winner!
(if you’re an IB ambassador and want to enter for maybe just the pincushion, just say so and I can pick another winner for the strips)
Enter below and answer if you have any resolutions for 2019!?
(I don’t really have one, other than to make more $ blogging/designing, not really a resolution but more of a goal)
I love your quilt. I will have to see if I can use that "quilt from block" technique in EQ7. You make it look so easy! These fabrics are just the cat's meow! heheheee I do love them.
Beautiful quilt, the fabrics are gorgeous ♥
You did a great job with your quilt, Bea; you really show off the beautiful fabrics. That owl is SO cute!!
Oh…that fabric is the best….just awesome, hummm do I say that about all of Island Batik fabrics??? Love your tutorial and tips.
Beautiful fabrics and quilt! So pretty! The owl pincushion is super cool! I like your binding technique! I will have to try that! Enjoy your day!! 🙂 :+)
Bea, your quilt is just gorgeous! I love scrappy quilts more than any other and These fabrics look wonderful in it. I like your binding technique and would love to try it too. I haven't seen this before. As for resolutions, I haven't made any other than to try to finish more of my projects. Thanks for your giveaway.
Alas, I didn't make a resolution. This year didn't quite fit in with changing a lifestyle or anything because I've been in the same mode of work ect for the past 7 and no way to change for the time -being. Just make money to get it built up for RETIREMENT! I have years to go, but then the true fun will begin! Like you, I only want to set goals for myself!
The owl and your challenge quilt are gorgeous. Congrats!. I'm not sure where you are in So. Tx. but I was just thinking how great it would be to escape the snow headed my way this weekend and head to Mission/McAllen. Sorry I dont have blogger or google. Denise-For the love of geese
Beautiful quilt Bea, love all the different sizes of blocs too!
The quilt is fantastic. I love how you explain everything, and your quilting is fun. That steam a seam tape looks easy. I have to find it soon. I have owls like that from you, so you can find another winner. Have a nice weekend soon!
Fun and colorful quilt!

No resolutions were made- but a new Baby Lock is being adopted Friday!!! I'm making her a clean safe spot to live right now.
Love your quilt , so bright and cheery .
Love the catty designs and your quilt. I think sampler quilts are my favorite. 🙂
Fun quilt and Ilove your owl pincushion! Can you show how you madeit? Carla from Utah
Beautiful quilt with beautiful fabric! I don't make resolutions anymore–I just try to make more quilts than the year before.
Congratulations on continuing to be a ambassador! I wondered how many people were and I’m amazed that there are50! Wow!
Congratulations on another year. Cute Owl!
I didn't make a resolution, but I did pick a word to try and focus on this year. My word is accept. I want to learn to accept situations I can't change, accept other's as they are and accept myself. I love these fabrics.
Bea, your quilt is absolutely gorgeous!! I really love this line of fabric! I just wish my LQS carried IB fabrics!
That owl is darling! I've been wanting a new pincushion for a while and that would be the best! Also, I like how you've laid out your quilt – very straightforward but a very nice effect.
I've been meaning to try that binding technique. Nice quilt.
I love how you set up the quilt, the owl and your use of the batiks. I so need to buy EQ. I want to design a Bargello I saw on Pinterest. Resolutions, not really but maybe I will try and be a kinder, gentler person this year.
A great use of the fabrics and a fun sampler! The kitty paws are adorable.
Beautiful work as always. Happy New Year. I never make resolutions.
This is such a fun quilt. Love the combination of fun elements. And the fabric collection you got is incredibly cute. Fabulous execution! For resolutions, I'm wanting to get my husband, dogs, and myself into a bigger house with a sewing studio for my quilt designing. Hubby loves it when I actually sew in the living room with him so the new house must have room for my sewing cabinet in there. Congratulations on being a 2019 IB Ambassador.
The pincushion is so cute! I want to finish some of my UFO's.
So cute! It's a great plan for the fabrics, and that cat face line design is so cute. Great owl! Don't enter me.
Lovely quilt, Bea!Awww, the owl is sooooo cute!Love the cat fabricI really must finish some of my UFOs this year!Barbara xx
"Sew" darn cute. I love the prints and that layout is fabulous!
Lovely quilt!! Thanks for showing us how you created it!!
Love the owl, quilt and Island Batik Fabrics! Congratulations on being an Ambassador again. My resolution is to not make any resolutions. Instead I have just finished reorganizing my sewing space and unpacking (and repackaged) all of my boxes and bins in storage to pull my UFO’s and repacked in preparation for another move in March. I updated my UFO List and my planned project lists. I’m now organized for another year of sewing fun. My UFO’s will be finished this quarter and I am going to try to only work on 2 or 3 projects at a time! Bring on 2019!Carol AndrewsQuiltSchmilt@gmail.comhttps://quiltschmilt.wordpress.com/
I don't have a blogger account sorry but my email address is 0759daisy@gmail.com thanks for the opportunity
Dejligt at være ambasadør igen – jeg elsker din blog og sikke en skøn ugle. Jeg vil prøve at sy en bagello i 2019. Knus fra Danmark – Inge Lise mail: il@mvbmail.dk
No resolutions, just goals. =) Thanks for the chance to win your leftover rolls. I love those, and buy them when I find them. My local store attaches a plastic 1" hexagon template, and I think it would be fun to take your two and mine and make something with hexagons. Your quilt sampler is great. I really like seeing a designer use their own ideas they've shared, such as your sampler planner, because that lets me know its really a good idea! =) I like the way you did this with the six and twelve and designated twelve as the only stars. Thanks for sharing that!
Your quilt is gorgeous, so colorful!
Love those larger star blocks. And my resolution, which I entered above, is " Try to be tidier" I have made a start with fabrics in clear plastic bins, sorted into Large yardages, UFO, partly done, and some projects are in ziplock bags.
I'm so glad that you will be an ambassador again! I enjoy all of your batik creations. And that pincushion is absolutely adorable! Thanks for the chance to win!
Thank you for sharing your design process and congrats on being an ambassador again next year.
I really have no resolutions, though I would like to spend more time in my sewing room . . . (lynnstck[at]yahoo.com)
That oops block made a terrific pincushion! Love your fun sampler quilt for these fun fabrics. Who could no smile when they see these prints?! 🙂
Great sampler quilt, Bea! I love your owl, too 🙂 As an ambassador, I have a feeling I'll be picking your brain for the best ways to use the Go! machine. Right now I'm thinking it will be a great way for me to tame my scraps to start with!
The randomness of the block construction resulted in a nicely colorful quilt.
The Feline Fine collection is so much fun! Love your quilt.
I love your quilt! It looks like so much fun. I don't have an official resolution this year. I am trying to finish my projects before the last day of the month this year!
All your projects are fantastic. Love all the stars in your quilt. Great way to show off the collection.
