Fruit Cake quilt

I recently finished this scrappy quilt using my pattern Fruit Cake

I made it using the 2nd size so it measures 50″ x 66″ and my pattern is supposed to be all scrappy but here I had a sort of “theme”

it all started with the small squares and rectangles in the middle, I wanted to use my scrap bin of “white prints” and I found that I had lots of grey on white/black on white and red on white, then that also led to the middle square being grey snowflakes because I had a scrap that was big enough to cut out all 35 squares, THEN I figured white PRINT star points, plus then I had a bunch of this blue print for the background and since I was doing a lot of red and white and blue already then every other block should have a red background too!

This was an in-between project for a long time- since March and then I added the borders once I got some patriotic fabrics for the FQ club and since May it’s been sitting and waiting to be quilted until I finally decided on a backing fabric.

I quilted a design called “scrollwork” in grey thread

The backing is a light grey

You can find the pattern here if you want to try it, it’s really a FUN pattern with lots of scraps for each block!

On sale for $8 until Sunday!

  1. I like the way that turned out! Scrappy makes everything better, in my opinion! Thanks for the idea. Good leader-ender project.
