This weekend I taught a foundation paper piecing class at Capital Sew and Quilt.
There was 3 students signed up, Joyce, Linda and Daisy.

Some of them had a little bit of quilting experience, some had more…
In the beginning I could kind of see the question marks above their heads, but as the day went on, it got better and at the end each of them had completed ONE block!
(I had hoped for more, but then again, it was a new technique and it was only a 4hr class)
at first everyone had printed the pattern templates 5 times, then I showed them how to mark the papers and some had cut the fabrics to match.
Sewing onto paper is a bit odd and seems backwards at first, but they GOT it!!

I hope they went home and practiced more and I told them about all the patterns “out there” that are FPP and they are so much fun!
It was a fun class!!
(we’re planning on two more classes, quilting with templates on domestic machine and another class with my nighttime by the river pattern- that’s a FQ stack and whack method)
I hope that they really "got it" I did great in the class I took. And I could repeat that block. But then when I tried to do other blocks it just didn't seem to keep working for me. I can do it, but it is "work" not fun for me.
That's a great pattern.
