Flying Geese quilt is done and quilted on my new Funquilter

The first quilt I quilted on my new Funquilter was the scrappy Rainbow flying geese quilt! –of course it’s made using the flying geese die from Accuquilt!

Part of the RSC16 challenge and the same pattern as the quilt I had in Quiltmaker in Nov/Dec 2016

I filmed a little bit with my phone and put this on youtube, so I’m steering with one hand and holding my phone with the other hand and the quality is not great.

(I know that embedding it doesn’t work, just click on it and go directly to youtube to see it)

I decided to machine sew the binding on, so I used binder clips and had Anja help me by taking them out and putting them back in the box, such a GREAT help!!- she did end up on the floor with the whole box and played too with them when I was about done!

Here’s close ups of the quilting.

The regulator is so much better and since the machine is 35 lbs vs 75 lbs, even though my machine rode great and smooth, because the funquilter is so light I have to steer it more gently, so that’s taking some getting used to.

The binding stitch is this fun stitch that kind of matches the border quilting.

  1. Oh look at you go with the FQ!! Sounds like you are really happy with it:)

  2. This quilt is so nice. I like the name and all those colors! Thanks for sharing with us. Your new machine sounds wonderful.

  3. good to see you have mastered your new long arm quilting machine, quilt looks oh so good and how lucky to have a little helper. Not tried to machine binding, mind you I really enjoy the hand stitching of it

  4. Looks like quilting just added to all the fun in that quilt. So many pretty colors. Fabulous finish. Congratulations.

  5. The Joyful Quilter

AMAZING what stunning quilts can come out of the scrap bin… especially when the begin from such humble units at Flying Geese (or HSTs!!)
