It’s friday again!!
And we’ll be using paper templates today….
Go here and download the paper template and just print out one.
You’ll need to tape the BIG diamond together but there’s lines to show where to tape it and it’s just a simple diamond, so easy to line up
I actually rotary cut my templates
You can cut out ONE or both triangles, I’ll show a trick using both below.
I measured the diamond it’s 5 7/8″ wide
From the “white” background fabric- which is “tussie mussie” btw- someone emailed and asked 🙂
Cut 2 WOF strips 5 7/8″ wide, lay the paper template on top and trim following the paper, you’ll need 8 total
don’t forget the dog ears!! makes it easier to line up when sewing- another reason why I love EQ!! it prints out templates like this!!
Cut 2 WOF strips 6 1/2″ from the blue and lay out the triangle templates and cut in the same way
Make sure the fabrics are folded so you have 4 layers of fabrics, as you’ll need 32 triangles 16 + 16 reverse.
OR….. you can TAPE the templates to the back of the ruler- saw this trick on a quilting video a while ago. One paper template you tape the “crooked” side up against the edge of the ruler, further down the ruler you tape the long straight side to the edge, both papers are the SAME (so one is in reverse since it printed one in reverse already you have to flip it back- you’ll see what I mean once you DO it!)
Here they are ready to sew, as always, I like to place the fabrics how they would look in the block, then sew them together.
This is where you see the dog ears helping!!
Here’s 8 blocks done!
Each block measures 6 1/2″ x 12 1/2″
Have you caught up on blocks 1 and 2? If you have… link up! we all want to see
looking good x
What should these pieces measure? I should be able to figure it out I suppose, but I have a headcold. That's my story and sticking to it.
