Featured Accuquilt die Thursday FADT Flying Fish

It’s time to feature another Accuquilt BOB die!

The Flying Fish!

As with the other Accuquilt BOB dies- Block on Board- all the pieces to make the block are on the die!

With this die I was able to play with it before the release and made this quilt for Accuquilt to show around Christmas (I didn’t see the pictures until now!) It all started with this EQ sketch! I combined the Flying fish die and the 9″ QUBE set!

And here’s the quilt! 36″ x 36″ Fin- pattern is on Accuquilt’s website

I also made this quilt last year where I just used the flying fish quadrant and faced them all up or down only! – looks like hard candy I think 🙂

Recently I used the die again and sketched out this boy quilt, quite a different look because of the fabric placement and again turning the quarter blocks!

It’s easy to cut out the pieces by cutting out WOF strips and fanfolding up to 8 layers and putting it thru the machine (the GO BIG)

Here’s the finished quilt, it measures 35″ x 44″

I think it’s interesting how you look at the quadrants of the block- if it was red and white and black, it might have looked like something BAD! but it doesn’t 🙂 PHEW!!

For the back I used the same teal as the front fabric

For fun I tried a totally scrappy version in EQ8!

It’s a fun die to play with, you might want to add it to your wish list!
