It’s time for the Farmer’s Wife QAL Block M
we’re still working on the 3rd now now the 3rd block, it’s block #36 of the book and it’s called Flower Garden path and it’s on pages 102 & 163.
On page 102 the farmer’s wife talks about the farm life being so peaceful without nosy neighbors in the city! Isn’t that true! I remember living in a condo and we could hear the neighbor flush the toilet! we live in the country now in a neighborhood and each plot of land is at least 1.5 acres, it’s enough to be apart but still close enough that you feel a community, the neighbor ladies and I used to get together once a month to sew/knit/crochet and chat, we took turns hosting, but it fizzled out after a while, I do miss those days! We’re not in everyone’s business but are still there to help and be friendly to our neighbors! I love it here!
This block may seem a bit odd, it’s only symmetrical one way.
Here’s what you’ll cut out
Black cut out 20 of shape #5
Dark Blue cut out 28 of shape #5
Medium Blue cut out 8 of shape #5 and 8 of shape #2
My dark blue is so dark it’s almost black but I kept using it and it will be ok once the quilt is done!
Count the dark blue as the background and make 20 HSTs with black and 8 with medium blue
Since the block is symmetrical for only half of it, I layered everything in 2 layers and laid things out like this after the chart, it was just easier to figure out this way. It’s symmetrical the horizontal way too I guess but it can still be confusing.
I sewed the pieces together into rows
then into half blocks
and then the whole block!
