It’s time for block I for the Farmer’s Wife QAL
This block is #23 in the book and it’s called Country Farm, it’s shown on page 150 and page 52
In Dark Blue cut out 4 of #1 and 4 of #4
in Light Blue cut out 8 of #4
in Black cut out 2 of #3
and in Grey also cut out 2 of #3
the construction is a bit odd again as the shapes cut out with the dies have the dog ears cut off and #3 is a large HST but you’ll sew these 4 together into a large QST instead! and then the #1 squares, add 2 of the #4 triangles to 2 sides of the squares, it seems odd, but it DOES work!
The block is sewn together diagonally, so add 2 of the square units above to the large QST and add the remaining #4 dark blue triangles to the other 2 units
and then sew the block together like this (sorry about all the lint!)
I laughed at the letter on page 52-55 where she mentions that 80% of Wisconsin farmers own automobiles!
in 1921 in Wisconsin there were 3460 farm homes, 2500 automobiles, 1925 oil, gas or electric stoves, 2120 Vitrolas (that’s a phonograph!), 1300 power washers (Does that mean washing machines?) 1260 farms having running water! Can the city show better records?? WOW that was 100 years ago, times have changes. But does all this STUFF make us happier? It might make life easier but are we really happy (overall I mean)??
