It’s time for another block for the Farmer’s Wife QAL
and I am now naming them by Letters instead of numbers, that’s how I had my notes initially, and it’s also easier since we are using Accuquilt dies and those name numbers, so this week it’s block F! (The first block in row 2)
This block is #20 in the book and is a simple Churn Dash block! (There’s sort of 2 churn dash blocks here but the last block is just 2 colors total, where this one is 3 colors)
Again I’m using the 6″ QUBE to get 9″ blocks out of it.
With Black cut out 4 of #3 triangles
With Dark Blue cut out 4 of #3 triangles, 4 of shape #8 rectangles and 1 of shape #1 square.
With Grey cut out 4 of #8 rectangles
Sew the #3 triangles together and the #8 rectangles together (4 of each)- I know my dark blue is VERY dark, so there’s not much contrast, oh well…..
then sew them into rows
and here’s the block done!
This block has a long letter written next to it and 3 other blocks and the writer talks about farm life and working and then that clothing and styles are the last thing on their minds but she’d love to still be in the know about what the latest fashion trend is. Ha! I don’t care at all what I look like, well maybe a little, but I’m happy in shorts and a T-shirt, I don’t wear makeup, I don’t even know how to put on makeup! Maybe that’s a disservice to my girls, but I think they are beautiful the way they are! Now Solveig can put on some eyeliner and look GOOD, but she doesn’t do it much, she cares more about her personal style and how she alters her clothes and adds patches or buttons, it brings her joy to do it! Sonja likes accessories! And as you saw on Saturday’s post, she makes her own things, like clay rings or other fun things.
