again I’m doing 2 blocks per week for the Farmer’s wife QAL
Blocks W and X are the 3rd and 4th blocks in row 5 below
Block W is #70 in the book on page 197 and 81, it’s called Prairie Queen (I actually have a published pattern made with this block called Tumbleweeds)
The block is easy to make from four patches and QSTs!
Cut out the following: with die #2 cut out 8 EACH of Light and Dark Blue, then with die #3 cut out 4 of EACH color and with die #1 cut out 1 in dark blue.
Sew the #3 triangles together into 4 HSTs
and the #2 squares into four patches
Then sew the block together like this with the #1 square in the center.
Block X is #72 in the book and it’s called Railroad, that’s a classic block and easy to make too! It’s on page 199 and on page 42
For block X cut out the following: with die #2 cut out 10 EACH of Grey and Med. Blue and with die #3 cut out 4 of EACH grey and Medium Blue
sew the HSTs together and the #2 squares into four patches just like above!
Then sew the block together like this and notice the color placement of the four patches and the HSTs
On page 42 the woman talks about how she was a city girl and missed it when she moved to the country but now love it. It makes me think of when I moved to the US, I missed Denmark, especially my parents and my friends, but friendships grew apart and my family is another story…. But just the way of life there! It’s different, I did miss it, but once I got to live as an adult over here and now have lived here over 25 years and I’m a US citizen! It’s odd for me to go back, I feel like a foreigner, I don’t fit in anymore, I’m there as a tourist and I have an American accent on my Danish! I LOVE the US and really have a disdain for DK, it’s odd. Of course Denmark has changed a lot in over 25 years and so has the US. I don’t think I could and never WOULD like to live there again. I love it here! I love the USA!!
