After doing my list for 2017 I actually got the leaf quilt off the hanger and decided that I needed to finish it.
Here it is!
I decided to forget about doing intricate custom work and just did my “go-to” pointy swirl all over, good thing too because my borders were all out of whack and I don’t remember what method I used to add the borders over 4yrs ago, but they were NOT lying flat, I even had to just let the fabric fold in some places, it was that bad..
Overall it’s a nice quilt though.
I decided to try another stitch on my machine for the binding and I also found this shiny variegate thread and used a leaf vine stitch, it worked out nicely
even looked good on the back!
I used embrilliance to make a label and added two accuquilt leaf cut outs and then embroidered the name on there
I like how embrilliance omitted stitches on the parts that were going to be overlapped!
The backing was a solid piece I had gotten from a big fabric warehouse (Mary Jo’s) and once I got it on the frame it was cut WAY crooked!
But I had plenty so it didn’t matter much
the batting I had already cut and ready and that was a SQUEAKER at the end!! phew
I’m happy that this is off my list- FINALLY!
don’t know yet if we’ll keep it or donate it, we have several fall quilts around as it’s my husband’s favorite colors (earth tones) so we’ll see.

Great finish Bea and it is a beautiful quilt! That is a neat way you are doing the binding.
Beautiful quilt, congrats on the finish. My motto this year is 'Done is good'. I seem to think everything needs custom and I am learning to let go a bit and just Get it done!! That hook swirl is my go to design too.
This quilt is beautiful!!
Congratulations on your finish! It is lovely!
