I was looking at my booklet from accuquilt and thought about dies I haven’t tried in a while or not at all.
Then I came across the Value die that you get with the Go! cutter when you buy it and I don’t think I ever designed a quilt around it, so why not!?
It makes a 4” and 2” finished square and 2” finished half square triangles
So immediately I thought of a 8” block.
I started with an 8” block in EQ and made the grid and snaps at 16
and started playing.
Now this would JUST include the squares, no triangles
but still a fun block
and fun quilt
Let’s go back to the block
how about a simple star block
and a quilt with this block
I would probably make it scrappy then
going back to the original block and adding triangles in just the corners
and a quilt with the block again
how about a mix of blocks
or this one
Let’s go back and do another block that’s not symmetrical.
Start by splitting the block into a four patch
Easy to make a simple double four patch block
Can’t remember what this block is called
in a quilt layout
and every other block rotated
and having the four patch alternating with the block
After downloading some monthly fabrics from DOyouEQ
I colored this in with April 2014’s fabrics.
And this one using the July 2014 Tonga batiks
(If you don’t know how to download fabrics into EQ, I did this tutorial on it)
Have you tried to make a quilt or designed a quilt using the Value die?
Link up either a quilt made or an EQ sketch.
Very interesting. I'm finally going to get my EQ loaded and start learning it. I'm going to really need it now. LOL
Very interesting Bea I looked at this die over the weekend but picked a couple different one to start my collection as I am just starting with the Accuquilt cutter but seeing you using EQ7 with it I think I am going to have lots of fun designing as well.
