EQ7 Tutorial Tuesday–Fall leaf quilt

I won 34 leaf blocks at my local guild right before Christmas and decided to wait to make something until the new year.

In EQ I had to create the block from scratch as there’s no the right one in there.

Here I start off with a 10×10” block

Then because it’s a lot of squares and HSTs I decided to create a 5×5 grid using the grid button on the left and if you click on it twice the grid setup box will pop up and you change it to whatever numbers you want.

Then dragging from top left to bottom right you create a grid

Then I filled in the HST lines

Then click the color tab at the bottom and back to easy draw to then be able to remove the lines from the squares for the stem

and then draw in the lines for the stem

Even though the stem is too fat on here, the blocks are already made, I just need it for placement and ideas for a layout

then color it and add to sketchbook

Now a 5×6 layout would be 30 blocks and I got 34 and not enough fabric to make another one to make it 35 (the background fabric is all the same)

with a 2” inner border and then a 4” outer border it would be 62×72

Creating a quilt on point would use 32 blocks, so that’s IS better and then I could use two blocks for a pillow!?

This size is 68” x 82”

I like the on-point layout but it reminds me so much of the fall quilt I JUST finished here

I could do the 30 block straight layout one and then use the 4 blocks leftover for a 20” pillow?

and I can do something scrappy with the border.

with a 6” outer border it will be 66 x 76

Or NO inner border and just a bunch of fall 2” squares on the border?

I think I actually like this a lot! it goes will the whole scrappy-ness of it.

This last one I added 2” borders with blocks, 25 and 30 on the first one (plus the corner blocks) then 2 more for each of the next two rows
