I’m finishing up the RSC16 blocks and one of them is the Accuquilt Fleur de lis block. Honestly, I’m not LOVING them now.
This block so far is 6 1/2” but I decided to add a 1” black border around each one.
So then I wanted to play around with ideas in EQ7 and see what I come up with
If you search for Fleur de lis blocks in EQ, just 3 come up
I added the bottom block to the library
Then editing the block under the applique tab
I selected the fleur de lis block and copied it
Then I made a new block and selected easyDraw and patchDraw
and in the applique tab, I pasted it
Now go back and make the block 8 x 8” and then draw the block with a 1” border by the edge
Then go back and select the fleur de lis and resize it by selecting the whole thing and pulling on the corner and side dots
Then color it and add to sketchbook
I then decided to add one of the 8”QUBE blocks
and then randomly colored
here’s one border option with “blocks aligned inside” after a 1” inner border
Then I made the outer blocks 2” x 4” instead of 4×4 and the 1/4 block in the corners
Then with the inner border being grey
I think I like the black better, actually a LOT!
So….. I couldn’t wait to get started on it and VOILA!
first the HSTs
then added the side black triangles, I love how the dog ears are already cut off, SO easy to line up!
and adding the large triangles
Then sewed them into blocks
and I added the borders to the fleur de lis blocks
and quickly the top went together
And the borders
So as you can see, playing around in EQ7 can “save” blocks and make it into a great quilt!
All pretty ♥
