This week is a quick tutorial on Accuquilt applique shapes!
Did you know that Electric quilt provides a lot of the Accuquilt applique shapes as a download!?
All you have to do it go here to DOyouEQ
Follow the directions for downloading and download both files
Now I did not have a download folder, but put it under USER folder instead, the followed the directions for linking the library
I named it Accuquilt and clicked browse and found the USER folder on my hard drive again
then VOILA! it’s in the library
and if you then open up the folders, there’s the dies!
here the cat has two blocks as stencils
When you add to sketchbook and click the block tab, it’s under the stencil tab
on layer 2 I added both cats, once is just an applique shape with nothing behind it, the other block has a background (or covers the blocks underneath)
You then select the cat with the select tool above the ruler
You can then change the size of it, now this is the block size! not the cat size, so you have to play with it and you can also use the ruler to measure the cat.
according to the Accuquilt cat die page it’s 4 1/2” tall
Here I adjusted it so it’s 4 1/2” tall (or at least very close to it!)- I personally don’t care that it’s not precise, since I have the die, it would cut it out perfectly, I just needed to see the ratio of how it would look on the block!
I used the cat die to design a quilt for Accuquilt that’s called Laura’s cat quilt here
If you have any of the accuquilt applique dies, start by downloading the files and play in EQ!
Have fun!
