EQ Tutorial Tuesday- Diamond Challenge

beaquiltersEQ7tutorialtuesday

Doyoueq posted a challenge for this month : DIAMONDS!

So I figured I’d play around with some diamond blocks

first I searched for “diamond” and got 50 blocks

image

Let’s pick some, and create a new quilt

of course I’d go with a diamond layout (Quilt/new quilt/ variable point)

image

And I inserted some blocks and rotated them

Before I make a border I like to get a “theme” going with colors and fabrics.

I added “Moda pot luck” from the EQ fabric download feb 2014

You can download them here

image

sometimes I click a new fabric and enter it into one block at a time to see which one I like

image

Then I clicked auto borders

image

image

and picked diamonds of course!

image

picked one and inserted into the border, doesn’t look good now as the border is too skinny

image

under the border tab I widened the border and had 4 diamonds top and bottom and only 3 on the sides

image

I then used the eyedropper to pick the color from the pinwheel looking block in the middle of the quilt (just in case I couldn’t tell which fabric it was)

image

image

then the spraycan and holding down CTRL I clicked the pinwheels on the border with this fabric

and colored away

image

and added a new border and colored it also

image

Kind of a funky quilt, don’t you think?

I don’t really like the pointy blocks, so I swapped them out

image

Have you done a diamond quilt before? or designed one?

Link up if you have.
