Efficient sewing

Many of you ask how I get so much done- sewing stuff done- not house cleaning! LOL

First it’s all about being organized!

And have a spot for everything and make it easy to reach- being tidy!

Then my next tip is to work on multiple things at once!

Here I have a pile of STUFF waiting to be sewn next to my machine, wanna guess how many projects it is??

Each project I work on, I might not sew a gazillion of HSTs or small squares, but instead I usually pick between 6-12 of one step, because I have the GO BIG for cutting pieces, I often cut 8 layers of fabrics at once, so those are already neatly stacked together, so that’s often what I sew.

I then sew those whole pile then go iron/press.

Here’s all the different projects, a pillow for Solveig, borders for 3 quilts, some FPP on batting (2), borders for another quilt, blocks for 3 more quilts, so that’s 10 things at once.

to me borders are BORING so they are good to work on between projects or in piles like this.

Here’s the pillow I made for Solveig, I thought she’d take it to college, but she didn’t- oh well….

By working on several projects at once I don’t get bored and want to keep going because I’m either beginning a new project or finishing up another project, once I get down to 4 or 5 projects or LESS, I feel like I have to start another one! Plus I always make sure one is super scrappy and has at least a gazillion pieces so it’ll take a long time and be sort of mindless sewing.

I try to keep the table neat but something I can’t because OTHERS are doing stuff 🙂

Sonja loves to make dino masks, here she used the floor to trace and cut fur she got for her birthday, but as she’s sewing it together- on another sewing machine, there’s FUR everywhere!! lol….. it’s ok, I don’t mind one bit!

She finished this dino/dragon this week- she had it painted but waited on more fur.
