do I NEED a new project?

Last night I was in a “funk” about quilting…

I know! imagine that??? I was…

I think it’s bugging me that I’m missing this white fabric for a Dr seuss quilt I want to make, and fabric.com will send it later ARGH…

I wanted to start something NEW and not just continue one of my things from my list.

well I did make these…

little kimono shoes, thanks Erin for sending me a link to these.

But NO! it doesn’t mean we’re having a boy, I don’t know YET!! anyone want to guess?

I jus tmade them because I like the fabric and the kids school is doing another craft show in april, so I figured I’d try these and see if they were easy to make, well I don’t know if they were THAT easy….

After that I sat and played in EQ7e

remember I won these flower blocks at my guild meeting last week!?

I have about a yard left of this red dotted fabric- all the blocks are polka dotted fabrics.

I like this layout but too much red fabric

but with more bubbles in the corners would be cute?!

Or what about just red sashing and I did find some more dotted fabric in my stash, so maybe little squares around the border…. hmmm still something is off.

An orange fabric I had with dots I have plenty to do a sashed border first too, that looks better

Then I removed the sashing all together, it actually looks better this way now

then going back to the solid dotted red as a border would be nice and simple

or the red border again with squares around, I don’t know. I think I like the red border the best without sashing.

So I got bored with playing with this layout

I do have a stack of batik 1yd pieces, 5 of them. I had the original idea to do a drunkard’s path quilt with them like this one

then I remembered a storm at sea layout I actually used for one of EQ’s monthly challenges

and I reduced the size to fit within 1yd of each of these 5 fabrics.

but this yellow in the pile is TOO yellow, the rest are beige, grey and black

the yardage didn’t quite match up so I made the corners of the snowball blocks black to see what they would look like

Then I realized the block was too small if I was going to use the triangle in a square Go! die, the blocks should be 12″ so then that meant less blocks!

I switched back to the beige corners on the snowballs

now the finished size is only around 42″ I think, so rather small, but that could be a table topper I guess, now I’m thinking my MOM might like it, she likes black, well red/burgundy and gold too.

I think I will make this for her, we’ll see. I may as well get started right??

I did finish the binding on the jelly roll quilt today on the way to and from church

the binding is WILD! just like the backing

it’s what I had on hand, and didn’t have a plan for it, so why not?
