Did you see this in Annie’s Halloween Magazine?

Do you subscribe to Quilt magazines?

I don’t anymore and I’m not a designer for Annie’s anymore either, only for the company that makes Mccall’s and Fons and Porters and quiltmaker I think (there could be more)

The other day I got a squishy package in the mail, it included this quilt and magazine from Annie’s, I didn’t make the quilt BUT I did make the pattern years ago, and when I found the pattern in the magazine, I saw my name as a designer and a different name as the maker. I quickly emailed Annie’s and got a return label for the quilt and sent it back.

This magazine is interesting, it includes also crochet and knitting and other sewing things apart from quilting, it’s kind of fun.

BTW the pattern is QUBE friendly (though they don’t list it in the magazine but this initially I think- I don’t remember, and the original was made in blue batiks by Island Batik!)

Annie’s contracts are different than McCall’s, Annie’s keeps the copyright forever unlike the other magazines, the copyright reverts back to the designer after so many months and you only get paid once!

  1. So basically folks that see it in the magazine get to use the pattern for free until the magazine gives the rights back to you? Interesting.
Next question why would they send the quilt to you and not the person who made it? Just curious.
