Did you see this fun gnome rug?
I made this for Accuquilt and it was fun to think of a fun way to use the gnome die that’s NOT just for Christmas!
I first came up with this in EQ8 using the 6″ qube for the flying geese and the Spring Medley for Easter Eggs and then picked pastel colors.
instead of using bright pastels, I had this FQ bundle from Michael Miller that were muted colors and picked a yellow, pink, green and blue (and grey and dark blue for the beard and shoes)
I cut out the pieces with heat n bond on the back and fused them down.
I made the little flying geese unit
I appliqued the gnome and eggs down with a dark grey thread and sewing the flying geese on the right, so it’s 6 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ then added batting and backing and this time I didn’t quilt it at all, just turned inside out.
The pattern is here
and I just noticed that there’s some of my patterns (paid) on the Accuquilt site as well- I also have them here 🙂
I also wanted to show a “new” thing I did in my studio, I have these Ikea cabinets in my studio and this set had doors but I decided to remove the doors here and shifted some things around so I can see my fabrics and scraps and threads! all the pretty things 🙂
Because I found that having EVERYTHING behind doors looked all nice and clean, but not very inspiring! I used to sit and just stare at my fabrics or scraps and come up with ideas and after I got my cabinets my ideas kinda stopped, so now I moved things around and I really LOVE it and catch myself looking at the shelves and just smiling 🙂
and see the top right shelf? that’s for quilt tops waiting to be quilted, yeah there’s only 2!! and now there’s only 1, 1 is on my frame already, both are for my book blog hop in March.
How neat to see your fabrics and threads on the open shelves Bea! I’m a visual person too so that is why all of my fabrics are on open shelves.
Your mug rug is adorable and love your shelves….very inspiring….gotta see some play pretties.
