Defenestration QAL step 6

It’s the last step of the QAL- borders!

For the borders, start sewing together the leftover #8 colored rectangles with #8 background rectangles (there’s 4 more background rectangles than the colored ones)

Sew them into rows. 2 rows with 8 colors and 9 background rectangles, plus add the 4 colored #1 squares to the ends of these, I had cut out two almost identical colored squares and added one of each to each strip.

The other 2 strips have 11 colored and 12 background rectangles

then sew these to the quilt- TADA!!

It should measure 42 1/2″ x 54 1/2″

make binding from 6 –2 1/2″ WOF strips.

You can get the pattern here

    Dear Bea,
I am working on “Ornamental” in red, white and blue as a Veterans Quilt which I will donate through my guild “Pieceful Shore Quilter’s Guild”. Putting this together certainly is a challenge. I’m loving this one. I ripped twice already but that’s okay. I like something where I have to pay attention. I will send you a picture when I finish it. Keep sending out the difficult ones. They keep me sharp. This is going to be one of my favorites.

  2. I’m downloading the posts and have the pattern, so it’s just a matter of deciding on fabric this fall – lots of plans for fall! LOL
