It’s time for some NY Beauty fun!
Whenever I hear of new authors needing quilters to help promote their new books I often happily sign up!
Cinzia White is the author of Dazzling NYB Sampler Quilt Blog Hop
and what a great book and quilt this is!!
Have you ever done a NY Beauty block? they can be quite intimidating, but if you work on one at a time, it’s not bad at all 😉
I got the book as a PDF and had to pick a block and it was “hard” to pick, I really like flying geese in a circle, so that was my starting point, then I started noticing the names of these blocks and picked “hairy nose” LOL- hilarious, I emailed Cinzia with my choice and a comment about the names and this is what she replied.
Some Aussie animals have weird names. I thought that was a better way to name the blocks rather than A7 or B4 etc.
Then I had to pick some colors and I was looking at my scrap pile next to my ironing board and I had recently worked with these metallic fabrics from Michael Miller, so I figured I’d use those and add a bit more of my own so I added some grey and white and once I was on a roll, the block pieces came together quickly.
And sewing the pieces together into a block wasn’t hard either
I quilted the block onto batting and made it into a pillow!
A fun project!
You can get the book or e-book here from C&T
There’s more pictures on the C&T site with block pictures and other projects.
Here’s the rest of the participants of the hop
Thanks again for letting me try this Cinzia

Comment if you have ever made a NY Beauty block or quilt!?
I have made a few New York Beauty blocks but not an entire quilt! Love the pillow!
I made one block years ago. Hand-pieced, not PP.
how fun!
I have never made a NYB, but I love them and have wanted to make a quilt with NYB blocks. Your pillow is amazing.
I have not made one as yet, but do have it on the near future list. The pattern I have uses paper piecing, which I need to learn, and will be taking a class for next month. Getting close!
I’ve only ever made a couple of NYB blocks as they seem a little bit tricky. I really should embrace the challenge of them, rather than steering clear.
I have made one but years ago.
I have never made a New York Beauty block but making one is on my bucket list. Thanks!
I’ve made a few. My favorite is in a quilt hoop in my sewing room.
aww sounds nice
I want to make a NYB It’s on my list. You give me a nice explanation Thank You so much
thanks it’s nice to try just one new block
Hi Bea. I love your block. You are such a multi-talented quilter. Thanks so much for sharing
I’ve not made one yet, but I do lots of paper piecing, so I’d like to try one. I think I can handle the curves, too.
I made a large block for a pillow many years age, and also have an unfinished quilt that is paper pieced. If I’m not a lucky winner, I will definitely order a copy
good luck!
Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of this book.
