I’m all caught up on customer quilts!
( I needed to finish this one because another customer is dropping off a quilt tomorrow)
This was a “tricky” quilt, it was made from signature blocks and then I had to quilt words around on the sashing. I drew them first with a chalk pencil or frixion pens (more about those in a bit)
the signature blocks I did a curve on the dark purple part from corner to corner and did straight lines by the corners, the side sashings I mimic’ed this swirl and leaves as the border fabrics
the mini nine patch I did a curve from corner to corner and the top and bottom sashing there are about 50 some different words
Here’s one of the words- disregard the pen lines
the inner border I did bubbles and the outer border I made a large swirl with leaves like the fabric on the border
Now about the frixion pens! ever heard of them? my neighbors and I saw them at a quilt show some months ago and we each bought a set, I haven’t used them much, but my neighbor who sews and quilts by hand uses them for the templates for quilting.
You can get them at quilt stores or amazon!
this is how they work:
You trace the design on the block, then I quilted it (the chalk pencils sometimes rub off before I get around to quilting it) these don’t!
then I just ran a hot iron over it and VOILA! the markings are gone.
a great thing to add to your gadget inventory!

"My" quilt store owner was showing me those pens today. She loves them! She was like a kid with a new toy showing it off. They are pretty neat. I'm sure I'll get them eventually. She said the ink will come back if the quilt gets to a super cold temp. I don't remember how cold, but colder than anyone would want to be. You're quilting looks great.
