Craft is art hand bag

The other day when I was looking at my orphan blocks I found this “craft is art” panel I had machine embroidered and colored with fabric markers.

I decided to make a bag/purse out of it!

First I framed it in black batik scraps from island batik and then made a striped back piece in the same size

then I decided to make it a boxy type of bag, so I cut 2 1/2” strips for the sides and bottom TWICE and also made a hanging strap, the one set of sides and bottom, I laid on scrap batting and quilting it a bit, and also finished the strap with batting inside, and I added a pocked to the lining piece.

Then I sewed all the pieces together

and finished the bag with a kam snap!

as I was finishing it up, Sonja came in and “claimed” the bag right away.

we’ll see how long she plays with it, because I can “claim” it back or maybe Solveig will grab it…

Very cute bag. Maybe a family bag for whomever has done the most crafty stuff that week?

Most things I make get claimed quickly. One of these days, I'll get something for myself 😉
