I can finally show you some secret things I’ve been working on for Christmas
A while ago I showed this picture that Solveig drew on her computer and Brenda at songbirddesigns offered to digitize it for me
Here’s the result!
Isn’t it just adorable?? it’s a 5×7 hoop and it took an hour to stitch out I think
Even though I used stabilizer on the back of the white and in the hoop, I didn’t do enough so it got a bit puckered, but I figured ironing would flatten it, it didn’t quite, but I kept going and trimmed it and added 2 1/2” logs and made a courthouse step block to turn into a pillow, it’s now 16 1/2” x 16 1/2”
Then I got the idea to quilt it and I densely quilted it around the fox embroidery and it worked great!
and then I turned it into a pillow and it looks awesome!
Solveig actually cried when she opened this! and my husband also painted her drab pink room into a nice blue/turquoise bright color, so the pillow went well in there!
I have also sewed 3 pillow cases for Danielle’s kids out of John’s old dress shirts, of course they didn’t quite match a standard pattern but I added more strips and made it work, the labels are a bit odd on there, but that’s on the back and it’s sentimental, so I hope the kids like it
I also made an eyeglass case for her mother in law out of shirt scraps
Have you done any Christmas gift sewing?
(and I’ve given away several table runners/ table toppers this year- funny how those just disappear soon after I make them! I need to make more, they are such great gifts!)
and I made these ornaments for gifts too
What a beautiful design, I remember you showing it before and how sweet that Brenda digitized it for you! It makes a perfect pillow. Looks like you kept busy with Christmas gifts!
Such amazing talent your daughter has. And for her to see where that talent can be used. You made some awesome gifts.
Really cool fox for your daughter.
I remember the drawing, which is stunning, but the digitizing is amazing. What a great ME stitchout which looks wonderful as a pillow.
Your pillow turned out beautifully! I'm so glad Solveig liked it! You did a great job turning it into a pillow. Love the dense quilting you did on it! Thanks for the shout out!! All your gifts were awesome. What a great way to use old shirts and something special to them! Happy New Year, Bea!
