A while ago I counted and added my accuquilt dies to the accuquilt app on my phone and I thought I had 94 but then I must have missed some and now my number is 122! So I put a “call out” on FB for one person to say a number between 1 and 122 and the spool die won! (I forget the number now but I think it was in the 70s)
Here’s the spool die
It’s a fun die! so out of my diminishing stash I found 3 brown FQs and cut out pieces on the die to make 3 blocks
quickly sewed them together like this with the colors moved around
I had plenty of fabric left on the FQs so I came up with a block and cut out with the 6″ QUBE
and sewed those together
then figured out a layout
and sewed it together
Then for the long arm quilting (though it seems silly since it’s only 12″ x 18″) I decided to custom quilt each block and came up with this in QCT
I used a 4th FQ for the binding!
and a 5th one for the backing
I used a variegated thread on the quilting which was fun!
Solveig ended up really liking it and hung it in her room 🙂
I am a bit confused but love the die and have it. It looks like you were able to cut strips for the spool “thread”. Did you use already strip pieced “fabric” that you made and cut that on the die? Or does the die cut strips to sew together? I see the big square it cuts and can see if one uses a stripe there, it could look like thread.
Your table runner looks very nice.
oops a bit I missed, and I just saw some blocks I made last year of this die. I used a stripe and solids for the “thread”. It makes a nice small block. Then I re-read the description and saw that you used a Qube for the alternate block. Duh…
Well anyway, it is so cute and we need to see easy examples and know that it’s possible with the Accuquilt dies and EQ8.
Very cute, I like how you quilted it.
