I’m thrilled to be part of another Accuquilt Go! die blog hop.
When I received the “list” of BOB dies, I narrowed down to a few dies and then finally selected the log cabin die by Leslie Main.
Normally I don’t pick a die that’s just squares or rectangles, but I must say I was thrilled how easy and FAST it went!
It’s always like Christmas when I get a box from accuquilt and this was a BIG one!
YAY! a new die I’d get to play with.
And Sonja played with the box!
I had this cute girly FQ bundle I won a few weeks ago and wanted to use them with the die.
I ironed it in half
and half again the other way so approx 10 1/2” x 9”
(these FQs were small, so I had to be VERY careful)
It fit perfectly over the right side of the die, which would cut up to 8 1/2” logs.
and VOILA! I had 4 layers of 8 pieces cut out in a snap!
I cut out all 9 FQs this way
and stacked them in a bin
Then I started playing in EQ and came up with this.
I had enough solid white and after ironing it, I cut out 36 sets of the logs and it only took 10 min!!
again stacking them in the bin
Then I started sewing them together
first I added the smaller white log to the sides and kept going.
8” (8 1/2”) blocks were done! – the white on the outside.
I had a bit left over of the FQs so I laid them on the 9” side of the die and cut out 4 pieces of each.
then sewed the last row onto the blocks and stuck them on my design wall.
LOVE it!
and quickly sewed the blocks together into a quilt top!
Then I began quilting it, feathers on the colored parts and swirls on the white part.
Here the quilt is DONE!!
More close ups of the quilting
I pieced the backing from two fabrics
and embroidered a cute label
Here’s another quilt layout and free pattern

It is just gorgeous. I love the fabrics you chose for your log cabin quilt.
Always love a log cabin – very pretty bundle you had to play with which made for a sweet quilt.
I've always loved a log cabin quilt and yours is just darling! 10 minutes to cut the pieces…how fast is that! Great job!
Bea I love how you put all one FQ print on a side, I have never thought of doing that.
Beautiful quilt Bea and love the colors in your log cabin, cute label too!
I love this! So vibrant and dynamic! Fantastic!
What a lovely post – sharing everything from the happy mail beginning to that fabulous finish! Your design looks fantastic and just like you drew it up in EQ7. The quilting is the icing on that delicious cake. Bravo, Bea!!!
Cool!
I really love this quilt Bea, the colours you used really make this design pop and Mustard/Yellow is my least favourite colour, you for sure made it work well here! but, why in the name of Heaven, did they use such a HEE-YUGE box?
I don't have that die, but your cute quilt has me wanting it!
Wow, I may have to break down and get that die. I didn't realize that you cut lights on one side of it and darks on the other. That is a perfect configuration. I was under the impression that it was an all or nothing with colors. And your quilt is just beautiful.
Oh, the wonderful things that you do so quickly with those dies.
What a fun quilt! Thanks for the step by step tut.
What an inspiration! I love the large striped fabric! Thanks for sharing.
you are such an inspiration to me both as a quilter and a mother. You really seem to be able to balance both. I love your sense of design and style 🙂
Just adorable and yes it is great that all those pieces were cut so fast.
