Recently I found this roll of cotton cording and I figured I hadn’t made a fabric wrapped bowl/ basket in a while.
So I looked at my fabric baskets
Reds or blues?
The Red one is also pink and purple I think, so I picked BLUE!
I decided to make it BIG
I stopped here to add handles
Folded it in half and stuck pins on either side, then did a few more rounds
VOILA! done.
Really doesn’t take THAT long
Of course I had my little inspector check it out
She seems to approve!
I put all the scraps back in the bin ( I used only DARK blue) and you can’t even tell I used ANY! hmmmm time to make another one!!
And that included a few fabrics I took out and put in my yardage pile instead of scraps
several people asked me for a video, Vanessa at Crafty Gemini has a great video here
I used 1/4″ cording from amazon or fabric.com
here’s one on amazon
And I loosely cut the fabrics with my rotary cutter, didn’t care too much about the thickness, but maybe 1/2″ to 1″ or so.
I did get some mommy kisses
(hard to do while still holding the camera)
I also finished another SKIRT
Which reminds me….. ANYONE of my readers in San Francisco area??
I also have finished the week’s women of the bible BOW
“the woman of Samaria”
It just made me think of being a good Samaritan- I assume that’s where the word came from?
How here in the US especially you almost can’t be that anymore, in fear of getting sued! it’s so sad….
On a happier note I wanted to show this video, I thought it was cute.
Bee high five

Beautiful basket and what a precious photo of the two of you!
I've never made a basket, but doesn't that look great!
Great post! I LOVE your basket! I've always wanted to make one of them but any of the tutorials I've seen haven't given me the courage to try yet. Have you ever done a tutorial for them, especially with the addition of the awesome handles Bea? Or do you know of a really good tutorial?LOVE those baby kisses! My Granddaughter is still living here with her parents so I get baby kisses from her all the time. She hangs out with me in my sewing room daily just like your adorable little one. She just loves fabric already and she's just turned 1 yr old. Of course, she doesn't have all those fun looking cables like you have on the long arm. LOL
I'm glad that you have a professional inspector to check your work and make sure you do a good job. 🙂
Bea, the basket is beautiful! Wish you'd do a little video tutorial on how to make one. You could do it in your spare time. (I crack myself up!) I still don't know how you get so much done!Love the post. BTR
