Hi everyone, it’s batting busting time!
I’m sure you’re like me and have a bin full of batting scraps!
What is a batting scrap? well to me it’s probably something smaller than 20″, I could save those for table toppers/ mini quilts or small things like that, I’ve also used some with my 2 1/2″ Strip cutter die from Accuquilt and made a jelly roll rug, the die can cut batting no problem!!
Today I’m here to show you what I MOSTLY use batting scraps for.
EYEGLASS cases!!
These are SEW much fun to make, these are machine embroidered in a 5×7 hoop and I got the files from embroidery garden
Each come in two sizes, for reading glasses and sunglasses
there’s cats
dogs
and owls
they use two 6 x 8″ pieces of batting and pretty much a 6″ WOF- with some leftover, but often if I am working on a quilt and have around 6″ left of a fabric, I cut it up and prep it for an eyeglass case and put it aside, then often I make several one afternoon for fun.
My husband made this nifty case for them and I sorted them in rainbow colors.
I try to sell at local craft shows, our small town has a craft show twice a year, they are not popular, but I do it more to talk to people and make connections, and I learned that I have to have every color for every size of each animal or someone will say something! ha ha
a lady once walked up with her friend and looked at them and laughed at a floral or polka dotted cat eyeglass holder and told her friend that if she hadn’t seen a polka dotted cat before, she hadn’t tried the right drugs! I about peed myself laughing!!
(I give a lot away too, they are just so much fun to make)
and the wide ones can hold some phones too!
Here was my booth last year (I think)
So why not give away one more!

The eyeglass cases are adorable – a red cat would be my choice!
So cute. I don’t do machine embroidery, but I think it could be done by hand. Not as many as you do, but for family. Thanks for the idea.
thanks, the method can be done with any long and skinny block. I actually have a pattern coming out for Accuquilt soon.
I’ve loved seeing you make these- an owl larger size for sunglasses would be great! No color preference.
love the kitties! i would like a black and white kitty in the wide size. thanks for the chance to win one made by you.
These are such a cute fun idea — they could store crayons, small notebook, and earbuds for students! What great possibilities! All of them are so adorable!
great idea, some put their phones in them
Those eye glass cases are so darn cute. I think the owl is my fav but then I love them all.
You’re good
Oh those are too cute! I like the blue dogs!
Terrific idea! Many parents would like to find you when they are struggling to get their children into new glasses.

I’m a two cat woman and love the cat eyeglass cases. I have friends who are dog loves and I’m sure they would love these cases as well.
aww great, good luck
These are really cute! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks and good luck
I love the dogs wide case – so cute in blue or green.
Thanks and good luck
These are adorable! And, so hard to choose which one. But, I would choose the owl, wide case, green or blue. THANKS!
Thanks and good luck
Bea, these are so cute. I think I’d go for a wide yellow cat so I could keep the chunky sunglasses in it and still find it in the purse. Thanks for the chance.
thanks and good luck
What delightful animals–and who doesn’t love cats, dogs and owls!!
and you have them in all colors–
me–I love cats–all colors–but especially love black cats!!
and I can not have a kitty right now–so would love one of yours–
do stay safe–
luv, di
So cute. I like the skinny tan puppies.
I’ve always thought these were super cute when you’ve shown them before. Owl in purple, blue, or turquoise would be my choice. Loved the comment from the woman about the polka dot cat!!!! Haha!
Answer to your last blog post, yes, my state is still locked down. It will be until probably next year, according to the governor. I like the Owls, and my sunglasses are large.
They are all so cute, so hard to choose. I thunk I like the owl best, and I would need a wide one. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway.
