barcode quilt

Yesterday I got these fabrics in the mail from fabric.com

( they had a sale on kona solids and wide backings- PERFECT)

they are actually kind of BORING! just black and white and white muslin backing….

but that’s okay 🙂

it’s for my husband, not sure if I’ll finish it by his birthday in 2 weeks, but I MIGHT, he knows I’m working on it and if I don’t finish it on time that’s okay too.

This will be the quilt! a BARCODE.

I’ve mentioned this before here

I printed out the quilt from EQ and then counted how many squares of each black and white in each row and wrote it on the side, I already looked that I should cut each 3 1/2″ square.

So I started cutting today

(after I washed them this morning AND ironed them- phew that took a long time)

Here they are all lined up and marked rows with a pin and paper.

I’ll start sewing later today or tomorrow,

I think I’m going to iron the seams OPEN, which I rarely do, but here it seems fitting, also to have the black fabrics stay with the black and white with the white…

I also remembered to cut the 93″ border length wise so NO seams! hope it’s straight 🙂 and I cut 4 around 100″ long so that should be fine.

Wish I could go up and sew more NOW, but I need to go to the kids school and help out the PTA 🙂

That looks like loads of fun and work! I want to make a crossword puzzle quilt but never have. Maybe someday!Vicki @ Quilting Lodge

  5. I often press seams open, I think it looks better on the finished quilt. I'm sure your husband will love it. Oh yes, I'm visiting from Fabric Tuesday.
