Saturday afternoon, Kim and I (another lady at our church) hosted a baby shower for my (our) friend Laura.
I made the cake!
Laura has such a cute nursery theme, pale green and off white and pictures of nursery rhymes and more.
Kim had bought plates and things with polka dots on them in pink, so I wanted to combine the two and was thinking about a nursery rhyme with the word DOT in it, for about 2hrs one day I was set on Hickory Dickory Dot…. then hubby told me the mouse went up the clock NOT the clot! eww—- LOL but when I told Kim about it, she said to still do it.
So here’s the result.
I used 3 circle pans and the bottom was frosted in bright pink, the second in pale green and the top in white.
Then I added polka dots on the bottom (my 10yr old daughter helped) and covered most of the top one with light brown like a clock.
and VOILA! after more details and writing on it and a pecan covered in dark frosting for a mouse, I had Hickory Dickory Dockt the mouse went up the clock.
See the little mouse!
and I crossed out the CK in Dock and added the T……
On the back of the clock I wrote BABY TIME!
The cake inside was a boxed strawberry cake mix (used 4 boxes)
Everyone liked the cake, of course I look at it and see my mistakes, but overall I was happy with it.
I also gave Laura this quilt also since we’re sewing buddies
and a baby doll with a J for her initial.
It was a fun party!
Laura has a little over 3 weeks left.
Just found out that another lady at church just had their first baby Sunday morning.
What a cute cake and the quilt and doll are darling too.
