This week I quilted the Riley Blake Kaleidoscope baby quilt.
Also, because Tonya at Ozark fabrics is having a competition or a challenge about making SOMETHING with the fabrics she sells, to prove that we are just not all fabric HOARDERS!!
I knew I wanted straight lines on the kaleidoscope blocks and in matching blue thread! Then decided that the other blocks needed matching threads too, so it has 2 colors of threads. which wasn’t too bad since it’s a small quilt
Here it is all quilted and bound
I did a small meandering on the background blocks and a droplet design on the border
Here’s the back
The other day I saw this FPP Bee on here
I suggested to Debbie to turn it into a pin cushion and I downloaded the templates too, they are TINY!!
Of course I printed one right away and then cut it out and I was going to WAIT and work on it slowly, but I think you know me….. I couldn’t wait….
I got out my scraps and sewed onto the paper, this template didn’t have the 1/4” seam allowance and I cut the scraps as I sewed
Then I trimmed it and peeled off the paper
here’s the block all together
Each side is about 1 3/4” so a little over 4 “ hexagon
I first thought I’d sew a band around it and then a matching hexie to make it like a pillow, but I cut the band out of yellow wrong and just went with my ORIGINAL plan of doing it rather flat with a matching hexie and that’s it.
I filled it with crushed walnut shells and whip stitched the side closed.
I think it’s cute!!
(Debbie turn yours into one too!)
Now I have these BRIGHT lights over the counter in the room- not over my craft table, I forgot what kind of lights they are but they are bright WHITE light and more of a spot light.
I wanted to see what it would look like in different lights
here’s the top light and no flash at night time
Here it is WITH the flash on and top light on
and this one is from this morning, so no light and no flash
(Isn’t that a cute bear BTW, his name is Hambo, he’s from Hamburg Germany, got him on a family trip thru there, can’t remember if it was a business trip or vacation, and I’m pretty sure he was bought at a gas station- anyways I named him Hambo and I used to crochet little outfits for him too- just found him recently and put him on my counter)
But I know you don’t think he’s as cute as this model
Sonja has been BUSY again exploring in my room
“found” her under my long arm frame
She found this little “screw” on the back
And here she’s messing with my bible BOW blocks AGAIN!
Saw this online, isn’t that cool??
Too bad the textile industry is mostly overseas…
And a few more, some I’m sure you’ve seen before

This was a cute one. You're tempting me to do a similar, but for now I resist the temptation. I'm going to a Big Band consert this afternoon. Have a nice weekend!
I like that kaliedescope really unique. Sonja and the bee are too cute!
Love the bee and the kaleidoscope!
Sure hope your lovely and cute as a button eye candy helps me get my mojo back…..grin. You have been busy.
Nice job on the kaleidoscope quilt.LOVE that little bee–thanks for the link!
Wow – this is one full post! 😉 Your bee pincushion turned out darling! SO clever you are!! Mine is bigger (since I copied at 150%), but still would make a great pincushion. I'll keep ya posted! 😉
Just love that little bee and as always it's lovely to see sweet little Sonja
Love the bee, and the bailout cartoon is a scream. What a great excuse!
